Job Description

DescriptionAt Viridian, we are focused on developing best-in-class medicines for people living with autoimmune and rare diseases. Leveraging our team’s expertise in antibody discovery and engineering, we have created a robust pipeline of differentiated investigational therapeutic candidates for well-validated targets.Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Communications, the Director of Corporate Communications will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of the internal and external communications strategy for the company. This individual will play a significant role in shaping the reputation of Viridian externally through corporate messaging, media and public relations, executive thought leadership, and digital and social media content. This individual will also contribute to building and maintaining Viridian’s dynamic team culture by ensuring employees are well-informed and engaged in Viridian’s mission, vision, and values, through a transparent and engaging employee communications program.This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):Contribute to the development and execution of a strategic communications plan that supports Viridian’s business objectives and strengthens corporate reputationDrive external communications strategy and execution, including corporate message development, media relations, thought leadership, and digital content developmentLead media engagements and manage media agency partners, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with strategic prioritiesProvide strategic communications support to the executive team, including consistent and timely communications during key business milestones, internal and external events, and issues or crisesOversee content development for corporate website and social media channels, ensuring alignment with brand standards, strategic priorities, and audience needsLead internal communications initiatives that ensure employees are informed, inspired, while reinforcing Viridian’s mission, vision, values, and strategic prioritiesPartner cross-functionally to ensure clear, consistent, and aligned messaging across all stakeholdersPartner with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure all internal and external communications align with corporate policies and/or regulatory requirements, enabling the delivery of effective and compliant messages to all audiencesRequirementsRequires 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, ideally within the biotech or life sciences sectorBachelor’s degree required; Degree in communications, journalism, English, or related discipline preferredProven track record of developing and executing integrated communications strategies in high-growth, pre-commercial or commercial-stage biotech environmentsDemonstrated success in both internal and external communications functions in a fast-paced, evolving organizationExceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills with an ability to translate complex science into accessible, compelling messagingStrategic thinker with strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skillsComfortable engaging with senior executives and managing communications at the highest levelsExperience managing vendors, external partners, and media relationsStrong commitment to ethical standardsProficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.) and communications tools such as Canva, intranet platforms, email marketing tools, and digital signage applicationsAbility to travel up to 10%The salary range for this position is commensurate with experienceViridian offers a comprehensive benefits package including:Competitive pay and stock options for all employeesCompetitive medical, dental, and vision insurance100% Paid Parental Leave Short- and long-term disability coverageLife, Travel and AD&D401(k) Company Match with immediate company vestEmployee Stock Purchase planGenerous vacation plan and paid company holiday shutdownsVarious fertility, mental, financial, and proactive physical health programsViridian Therapeutics, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination, harassment, or retaliation of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by Federal, State, and Local laws.
