Who We Are:  CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports, they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

CAMBA operates six homeless shelters for single adults, and a shelter center funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free environment. Single men and women experiencing homelessness may also present with chronic mental health and substance using behaviors. At CAMBA’s shelters, we provide access to
comprehensive case management and housing placement to rapidly place individuals into housing. Medical, behavioral health, job placement and therapeutic recreation services are available to help stabilize clients and facilitate successful transition into permanent and/or supportive housing.

  Position: Director of Social Services

What The Director of Social Services Does:

• Understand all aspects of contract requirements and communicate this understanding to staff.
• Liaison with medical staff and psychiatric providers (both internal and external) to ensure appropriate service delivery for clients.
• Develop and implement a system to ensure that clients maintain their medication compliance on a weekly basis.
• Communicate with peers in other CAMBA shelters on issues related to client progress and best practices.
• Work with direct reporting staff to set realistic weekly and monthly performance targets in accordance with contract requirements.
• Observe direct reporting staff engaging with clients and/or supervisory staff.
• Conduct periodic internal file reviews and implement Quality Assurance measures as needed to ensure quality service delivery to clients (i.e.-address and investigate client complaints).
• Assist the Vice President in providing oversight for all aspects of the program in his/her absence.
• Prepare reports and statistical information for both CAMBA management and funder use.
• Assist in the analysis of program and demographic client data to make programmatic improvements.
• Organize onsite and offsite training opportunities for professional development of staff.
• Confer with the Vice President, Program Director, and/or other CAMBA management staff as needed regarding programmatic and personnel issues.
• Ensure that all housing goals and performance outcomes are met on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
• Monitor and track clients’ housing placements and Individual Service Plans.
• Plan and organize program activities to maximize program contract’s goals and performance targets as outlined in DHS Performance Incentive Plan.
• Develop program content to address residents needs related to housing, substance abuse treatment, mental health and employment.
• Troubleshoot client and direct reporting staff program problems and make decisions in accordance with program policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Develop and implement crisis prevention and/or intervention strategies to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Provide assistance and follow-up in regards to critical incidents with clients.
• Liaison with community leaders and groups to build connections, gain support and troubleshoot issues/concerns.
• Ensure staff utilization of electronic database and conduct oversight to ensure data integrity.
• Conduct and document one-on-on supervision of direct reporting staff to assess and improve work performance i.e. identify training needs, professional development etc.
• Review and sign time sheets.
• Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff.
• Attend staff/funder/outside agency meetings and case reviews with staff and clients as required.
• Immediately report to the appropriate Vice President/Program Director any: monitoring visits or funders’ events; significant events; any incident that might subject CAMBA to liability.
• Complete incident reports, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Facilitate interdepartmental communication and conduct regular staff/departmental meetings.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

• Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.
• Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of applicable experience
• Associate's degree and six (6) years of applicable experience
• Applicants currently enrolled in a program and on track to complete the minimum required education, license, and/or certification within the next three months, and who meet the minimum experience requirements, are encouraged to apply. However, employment is contingent upon satisfying requirements for the position
• Experience required listed above with minimum education
• Two (2) years supervisory experience
• Computer literacy in MS Office and other basic office technology

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with New York City (NYC) Department of Social Services (DSS)
• Working knowledge of CARES
• Bilingual (English & any other language) preferred.
• Certified in overdose prevention/Narcan

Pre and/or Post Employment Requirements:
• Submit medical Tuberculosis (TB) test results as part of the onboarding process.
• Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
• Must obtain and maintain certification in overdose prevention.
• Must obtain and maintain CPI (Crisis Prevention) certified

Compensation : $77,000 - $82,000 annually 
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
