Job Description

Engineer, Electrical – Water Operations Commissioning | Water Treatment Facility | Sparwood, BC

WolfTrek Corp. | Indigenous Owned | Technical Recruitment & Workforce Management

WolfTrek is an Indigenous owned company providing technical recruitment and workforce management services for companies operating in various sectors across Canada.

We are currently hiring an Electrical Engineer to support a water treatment operations project team in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. Reporting to the Commissioning Project Engineer, this role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems within water treatment facilities — including power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and automation. This is a great opportunity to work on the cutting edge of selenium water treatment technology as part of a collaborative, high-performing operations team.

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, strong learning agility, and analytical problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, cross-functional team player with strong attention to detail and the flexibility to thrive in a constantly evolving, dynamic environment.

This role follows an attractive compressed work week with alternating Fridays off, with flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends for projects at different sites as required — located in the breathtaking Elk Valley, where outdoor adventure, work-life balance, and meaningful work come together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards
  • Promote sharing of best electrical engineering practices across operations
  • Design, implement, and optimize electrical systems and components for water treatment facilities
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in pumps, motors, control panels, and instrumentation
  • Assist in the integration and programming of SCADA and PLC systems
  • Develop, update, and maintain electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Develop and implement electrical and instrument-related Management of Change (MOC) processes
  • Collaborate with process, mechanical engineering, and automation teams — leading and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support maintenance and operations teams to improve equipment reliability
  • Support capital projects and upgrades including specification development, design review, criticality assessment, operational readiness, and facility commissioning

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in water or wastewater facilities
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility to obtain within 12 months
  • Hands-on experience in full-scale facility commissioning is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and automation
  • Strong skills in PLCs, SCADA systems, and VFDs

Why This Opportunity?

  • Work on cutting-edge selenium water treatment technology at one of the most advanced facilities in the world
  • Contribute directly to meaningful environmental outcomes through world-class treatment infrastructure
  • Join a collaborative, safety-focused team tackling complex and novel engineering challenges
  • Compressed work week with alternating Fridays off and a strong focus on work-life balance
  • Located in the stunning Elk Valley — biking, skiing, hiking, fishing, and more right at your doorstep

WolfTrek welcomes applications from all qualified candidates.

Indigenous applicants are encouraged to apply.

We are committed to building diverse and inclusive teams. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment.
