Job Description

I’m currently seeking an Emergency Management Specialist for a client located in the Alexandria, VA area. We are looking for candidates with the following experience: * Recruiting, training, and managing emergency volunteers * Participating in emergency exercises as a controller, evaluator, or as part of an exercise design team. * Writing, reviewing, and editing emergency management-related plans, policies, and procedures. * Conducting outreach and educating diverse groups and communities on emergency preparedness and resilience. Note: The position also supports emergency responses and planned events during and outside of normal business hours. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:  Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s License; Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 and training in the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP E/L/K 146) within twelve (12) months of hire. Responsibilities

*Provides support to a variety of emergency management-related programs and
activities, including emergency planning, community outreach and volunteer
coordination, training and exercises, and emergency response;

*Recruits, trains, retains, and ensures readiness of emergency volunteers; 
*Prepares and delivers presentations and conducts outreach to civic and community
organizations and community members to promote volunteerism and emergency preparedness; 
*Regularly facilitates and supports meetings with City departments and community
stakeholders to determine and recommend appropriate courses of action to enhance preparedness and resilience; 
*Conducts independent research, prepares, develops and manages assigned projects/programs in a variety of complex emergency management areas;

*Coordinates and works with community and business partners to advance emergency preparedness and community resilience and enhance volunteerism; 
*Performs various emergency management roles day to day and during emergencies,
EOC activations, and planned events.
