Position Overview The English Teacher will provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts while fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to strengthening literacy across disciplines and implementing instructional strategies that promote student ownership of learning. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Incorporate evidence-based instructional strategies, including writing-to-learn, collaborative learning, inquiry-based instruction, and explicit vocabulary development. Use formative assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth. Foster critical thinking, reading comprehension, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes high expectations and mutual respect. Participate actively in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) to analyze data, plan instruction, and refine practices. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. Support school initiatives that promote student engagement and academic progress. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field. Valid North Carolina teaching license (or eligibility for licensure) in English Language Arts. Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and secondary ELA standards. Commitment to continuous professional growth. Ability to build positive relationships with students and families. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching high school English. Knowledge of AVID instructional strategies and WICOR methodologies. Experience integrating technology to enhance student learning. Demonstrated success in increasing student achievement.
