Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This full-time position is seeking a Special Education Teacher certified in Elementary Cognitively Impaired (CI) education to serve young learners in grades K2. The role is based onsite in Detroit, MI, for the 20262027 school year (dates TBD). It offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the education and development of students with special needs in a supportive school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with cognitive impairments or autism spectrum disorders in grades K2.
  • Develop and implement specialized education plans aligned with student needs and state guidelines.
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to foster students academic and social growth.
  • Maintain certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or obtain and renew it annually.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies to maximize learning outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education License with CI or ASD endorsement.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including CPI certification.
  • Experience working with young students (K2) with cognitive impairments or autism.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to engage with multidisciplinary teams and families.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
