Position Objective

As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will help maintain a safe environment by remaining alert, following established procedures, interacting professionally with the public, and supporting the overall security operations of the assigned location.

Key Responsibilities
• Maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Observe and report incidents accurately.
• Interact professionally with employees, visitors, and customers.
• Follow company policies and security procedures.
• Complete required reports and documentation.
• Respond appropriately to routine security situations.


Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid government-issued identification.
• Successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Successfully pass a drug screening.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Important: The State of Ohio does not require an individual state license to work as an Unarmed Security Officer. Individuals working contract security must be employed by a licensed private security company.


Preferred Qualifications

Additional training is considered an advantage, including completion of the OPOTC Private Security Academic Training Course, covering areas such as:
• Legal issues
• Communications
• Report writing
• Loss prevention
• Safety and protective services
• Unarmed self-defense
• First Aid


Preferred Certifications & Additional Training
Candidates with any of the following certifications or training are encouraged to apply:
• CPR / AED
• First Aid
• De-escalation and Conflict Resolution
• Defensive Tactics
• Report Writing
• Customer Service
• OC Spray or Baton training (when authorized by the employer)
